Jonathan Spector

Jonathan Spector (he/him) is a playwright and theatre-maker based in Oakland, California.  His play Eureka Day was recently seen in New York with Colt Coeur (Time Out and NY Times “Critics’ Pick”). Its premiere at Aurora Theater in Berkeley received all of the region’s new play awards: Will Glickman Award, San Francisco Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle Award, Rella Lossy Award, and Theatre Bay Area Award. This and other plays including Good. Better. Best. Bested., In From The Cold, and Siesta Key have been produced and developed with Roundabout Theatre Company, South Coast Rep, Berkeley Rep, Mosaic Theatre, InterAct Theatre, Custom Made Theater, Just Theater, Mugwumpin, San Francisco Playhouse, Bay Area Playwrights Festival, Crowded Fire, Source Theatre Festival, Spreckles Theater, and Theatre of NOTE. Jonathan is a recipient of South Coast Rep’s Elizabeth George Commission, has been a MacDowell Colony Fellow, and was a Resident Playwright at Playwrights Foundation. He is the Co-Artistic Director of the award-winning Just Theater, and was previously the Associate Artistic Director of Playwrights Foundation.
