Since 1986, The New Harmony Project has been serving writers and celebrating the human spirit. For the past thirty years, we have welcomed over 250 writers to join us in developing their work and rejuvenating their soul. Below is an inclusive list of the various projects we have served throughout our history.

The 2023 conference featured 19 Writers in Residence who were joined by collaborators, resident dramaturgs, NHP staff, and student fellows. The cohort of artists featured writers selected in partnership with Steppenwolf Theatre Company, the Kennedy Center College Theatre Festival, and Indianapolis Shakespeare Company. Production in Residence scripts
will be seen at Baltimore Center Stage, Mosaic Theatre Company, Seattle Children's Theatre, the Alliance Theatre, and Rivendell Theatre Ensemble.

2021

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021 conference featured two cohorts of “Writers in Residence” for one week periods. The conference featured partnerships with Steppenwolf Theatre Company & The Edgerton New Play Foundation, The Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival, and Cygnet Theatre & Playwrights’ Center.

2020

The 2020 conference was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and selected writers were shifted to 2021.
