Monet Hurst-Mendoza’s new play Lilia is the winner of Parity Productions’ Development Award, and will be presented in a reading on Friday, June 12 at 2pm and Saturday, June 13 at 5pm.
In a small Yucatecan town in the 1960s, 14-year-old, religiously devout Lilia is forced to turn to prostitution to make a living. When young Lilia forms an unconventional friendship with a compassionate new priest in town, everyone's faith is tested. Caught between the secrets and lies that force us to question the morality of human nature, Lilia presents a passionate allegory about choosing between duty and desire.
Featuring Wilson Aldas, Raquel Alamazan, Danny Borba, Kathleen Guerrero, Jose Antonio Melián, and Ana Miramontes.
