Lucy Thurber’s new play The Meridian Cafe receives its world premiere production at American Lives Theatre in Indianapolis. Specifically commissioned by the theatre and devised with the cast, this play was inspired by Lucy’s interaction with American Lives Theatre and the Indianapolis community during NHP’s PlayFest Indy in 2024.

The Meridian Cafe by Lucy Thurber is is where lives intersect on one Fall night. Set in the heart of Indianapolis, this World Premiere play captures the moment where past meets present. Obie Award-winning playwright Lucy Thurber developed the play in Indianapolis along with six local actors, and wrote roles specifically for those actors. The result is an unsentimental, vibrant portrait of a city's heartbeat and the fragile human connections that keep us going.
