Mike Rich
Mike Rich had his screenwriting breakthrough in 1998 when his first draft of
FINDING FORRESTER was honored by the prestigious Nicholl Fellowship
competition, a contest sponsored each year by the foundation branch of the
Academy for Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Within weeks it was picked up
by Columbia Pictures and was a holiday season release in 2000, starring Sean
Connery and directed by Gus Van Sant. Mike's second screenplay THE ROOKIE
starred Dennis Quad and Rachel Griffiths and was both a commercial and
critical success for the Walt Disney Studios in 2002. The following year,
Mike wrote the script for the feature film RADIO, which starred Ed Harris,
Cuba Gooding Jr., and Debra Winger. He is presently working on two projects
and was selected by ''Variety'' magazine as one of ''Ten Screenwriters to
Watch'' in 2000. FINDING FORRESTER was honored with a Christopher Award for
its message of hope and human spirit, and THE ROOKIE was named by ESPN as
the ''Best Sports Movie'' of the year 2002 during the network's annual ESPY
Awards presentation. Mike continues to make his home in the Portland, Oregon
area, where he lives with his wife Grace, and their three children.
